Strong attendance at TFWA China’s Century Conference confirms key role of market as it undergoes rapid evolution

As the third TFWA China’s Century Conference, held in partnership with APTRA, drew to a close, TFWA president Erik Juul-Mortensen spoke of the need for agility if the industry is to maximise the opportunities of the market.

This year 412 visitors from the duty free and travel retail industry in China and beyond attended the event. This figure is up from 388 for the last event in 2015. Delegates included representatives from 211 companies, an increase on the 2015 number of 197. TFWA ONE2ONE meetings were as ever popular, and a total of 130 meetings involving 123 different companies took place.

There was a comprehensive social events programme running throughout the three-day event. Delegates enjoyed an elegant opening cocktail at W Hotel Guangzhou, and a gala dinner at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel. TFWA China’s Century Conference was held in Guangzhou, China’s third largest city, and the official host was Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Company.
