SSP Group, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, has unveiled its latest culinary partnership with celebrated German TV chef Steffen Henssler and his brother Peter Henssler to launch a new restaurant, Ahoi steffen henssler, at Frankfurt Central Station.
Steffen Henssler is the latest in a distinguished list of local culinary heroes with whom SSP has partnered around the globe. These include Alvin Leung in Hong Kong, Paul Wahlberg in the US, Michel Roth in France and the Torres Brothers in Spain. SSP also works with a number of globally renowned chefs including Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver.
The new concept is the first travel retail venture for the Henssler brothers, who also operate the Ahoi steffen henssler restaurant in Hamburg. The outlet at Frankfurt Central Station is located in the pavilion next to platforms 18 and 19, with indoor seating for 26 guests and an outdoor deck seating a further 16 customers.
The menu at Ahoi steffen henssler offers regional cuisine with an emphasis on fish dishes and seafood, including sushi bowls, fish’n’chips and shrimp’n’chips, as well as sandwiches.
Steffen Henssler said; “Our kitchen is down to earth, but anything but boring. We’re sure it will be well received by travellers at Frankfurt Central Station and will fit the location well. Guests can enjoy their meal in the restaurant’s seating area or order dishes for takeaway for their onward journey.”
SSP now operates seven food and beverage units at Frankfurt Central Station including the new outlet from healthy food brand Haferkater, which opened in July.
Jan Kamp, Director of Business Development & Properties SSP DACH, said; “At our locations we value variety and diversity. Therefore, we are constantly looking to add new brands to our portfolio. ‘Ahoi’ is one of our latest additions and its urban and maritime store design, as well as its culinary offering make it a real stand-out name. The Henssler brothers have brought an individual touch to the concept, and together we have adapted this to fit the requirements of food service in the travel environment. The restaurant will undoubtedly be a flagship selling point for Frankfurt Central Station.”
