SSP opens premium coffee outlet Bazzar Caffè at Düsseldorf Airport

SSP Group PLC, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, is bringing a taste of Italian coffee culture to Düsseldorf Airport with the opening of its new Bazzar Caffè concept.

Founded by Aydin Kirici in 1996, Bazzar Caffè helped pioneer coffee culture in Düsseldorf and is firmly established at the heart of the Rhine metropolis’s burgeoning gastronomic scene. In partnership with SSP, international travellers can now enjoy Bazzar Caffè’s premium, in-house roasted coffee at its new unit located at the airport’s departure lounge C.

Spanning approximately 200 square metres with seating for 84 people, the steam-punk styled outlet features a distinctive interior design that blends both retro and futuristic elements. Passengers can choose from an extensive selection of breakfast options, as well cakes, tapas and salads, which are available daily from 4am to 9pm, while Bazzar-themed merchandise is also available to purchase from the adjacent retail store.

Commenting on the opening Aydin Kirici said: “This concept has been exclusively designed from the ground up for passengers at Düsseldorf Airport. All the furniture is tailor-made and each element is bespoke. Italy is famous for the highest level of espresso coffee culture, and we are continuing this tradition with this latest venture.”

With the addition of Bazzar Caffè, SSP now operates 11 restaurants and food outlets at Düsseldorf Airport, as well as an on-site conference centre ‘DUSconference plus’.

Jan Kamp, Director Business Development & Properties, SSP DACH region, said: “High-quality products and outstanding culinary concepts are key criteria when selecting our franchise partners, and Bazzar Caffè features these very characteristics. The brand has achieved an excellent reputation for its roasted coffee in Düsseldorf, and the launch of a local outlet at Düsseldorf Airport will help build closer connections between the airport and the city centre’s exciting culinary scene.”

Pia Martina Klauck, Head of Commercial Operations at the Düsseldorf Airport, said: “At our airport, we seek a mix of internationally well-known brands and regional, individual concepts, so we are delighted to open Bazzar Caffè in cooperation with SSP. Everyone involved in the project was passionate about developing this highly innovative outlet, which will give visitors a real taste of Düsseldorf coffee culture.”
