SSP announces partnership with Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes Airport to deliver a unique culinary experience for airport passengers

SSP, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel hubs worldwide, is proud to have been selected by Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes Airport to develop eight F&B units for its newly renovated space, which will feature a new indoor terrace as well as an outdoor food court.

SSP has developed the new units with concepts tailored specifically to Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes airport, promoting the region’s local flavours and the culture of the archipelago.

The Rhumba restaurant is an atmospheric bar that allows travellers to unwind while tasting a selection of exceptional local rums, original cocktails, and aperitifs. With a décor that strongly features Caribbean wooden elements, the bar offers a true Guadeloupean experience. For passengers wanting to take a deeper dive into Guadeloupean culture, the Place Créole food court boasts a menu of delicious Guadeloupean street-food which passengers can enjoy while admiring works from an array of local artists.

Meanwhile, for travellers wanting a more formal dining experience on their journey, SSP has developed the new Bleu Caraïbe restaurant with award-winning chef, Jimmy Bibrac (affectionately nicknamed ‘The Pride of Guadeloupe’). At the restaurant, guests can enjoy an exceptional menu designed to pay tribute to the island’s culinary heritage through bold flavours and fresh, local ingredients.

SSP has also introduced Comptoirs de l’île which blends traditional French and Creole flavours in its sandwiches and snacks. Appealing to passengers on the go, SSP is bringing a selection of national and international brands such as Carrefour Express and Starbucks to the airport.

SSP began its operations at the airport in May and the airport’s full renovation project with SSP will begin July 2022. The project is due to be completed in 2023.

Gérard d’Onofrio, Managing Director of SSP France, Belgium and Luxembourg, commented: “As the gateway to the Caribbean, with more than two and a half million passengers in 2019 and an ambitious modernisation plan in place, Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes Airport is preparing for an exciting future. We are delighted with this development in Guadeloupe where we will offer local food and beverage concepts, inspired by the culinary heritage of Guadeloupe.”

Alain Bièvre, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Société Aéroportuaire Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes said: “We are very happy to see SSP Group bring their expertise to Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes airport. The consultation process was carefully prepared and the offers meticulously analysed by our teams in order to select the most exciting, qualitative and competitive proposal. The innovative concepts proposed by SSP will really change the face of the airport and significantly improve the food and beverage offering at Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes.”
